  1. What type of watch needs a watch winder?

The watch winders that we carry should be used for automatic watches only. Other watches such as kinetic, battery (quartz) operated, or manual watches should not used with a watch winder.

  2. How many rotations are needed for my watch?

All automatic watches have different maximum TPDs (Turns Per Day) but on average most high end automatic watches only need 600-1000 TPDs. All of our watch winders are set to accommodate this minimum requirement of TPDs.

  3. Are the motors silent?

Yes, our motors are silent but since it is a motor that continually rotates when turned on, we suggest that you place the watch winder away from your head while you sleep because you may hear the slight movement of the motor turning the watch.

  4. How do I use my watch winder?

Once you have received your new watch winder, simply read the instructions. You may immediately power the winder, choose rotation setting and insert your watch. Your watch will start winding instantly.

  5. What are the rotations settings for your watch winders?

Most of our watch winders come with 4 settings to wind your watch. The following are printed on the instruction sheet included in your new watch winder.

    1) Turn clockwise. Rotate for 6 minutes and rest for 30 minutes and then repeat.
    2) Turn counter clockwise. Rotate for 6 minutes and rest for 30 minutes and then repeat.
    3) Turn both clockwise and counter clockwise. Rotate for 20 minutes in one direction and then rest for 10 minutes. Rotate for 20 minutes in the opposite direction and then rest for 10 minutes. Repeats above cycle.
    4) Turn both clockwise and counter clockwise. Rotate for 10 minutes in one direction and then rotates in opposite direction. Repeats continuously for 3 hours and then rests for 9 hours. After 9th hour, it will begin rotating above cycle.

  6. How long do I need to wind my watch?

Most watches only need to be wound for several minutes to a few hours. When you remove your watch from the watch winder, most watch brands will run for 24-72 hours. After this your watch will need to wound again. Make sure to wind your watch before the watch stops.

Watches may also have other features such as multiple dials and calendar features. For these watches its best to wind your watch before the watch motor stops to avoid re-calibration.

  7. Can I manually turn the motor?

No, please do not touch or attempt to manually turn the motor because this will damage your watch winder motor and will void your 1 year warranty.

  8. Is there a warranty for your watch winders?

Yes there is a 1 year warranty on all watch winders sold on buywatchwinders.com. This covers any problems related to the motor of the watch winder. This will ensure you have a perfectly running watch winder.

  9. How do you ship the watch winders?

All of our watch winders are securely packed in foam with double corrugated card board boxes. We ship using Fedex or UPS to ensure fast and secure delivery. We normally ship all orders the same or next business day as long as the item is in stock.

  10. Does your watch winders take batteries?

Yes, we carry battery powered watch winders. All of our battery powered winders are currently single watch winders so please check out Single Watch Winders category.

  11. I have seen similar watch winders sold on Ebay for much less. Why are your watch winders expensive?

Please be careful when you purchase these so called automatic watch winders. Most of these sellers are dumping very cheaply made watch winders to the public. Most of these watch winders are not well made and the motors tend to burn out quickly.

If you have a fine timepiece that you have paid hundreds or even thousands of dollars, it's best that you purchase a high quality watch winder to maintain the watches.

Our watch winders are carefully made with high quality wood veneers with piano lacquer finishing. Our motors are made with high quality pieces to ensure a long lasting watch winder. Each watch winder takes up to 6 weeks to manufacture. We stand behind our products and we have been personally involved in the complete manufacturing process to ensure you receive a high quality watch winder.
